For Katherine - 63 x 47cm - Sold

This piece is dedicated to Katherine Swynford, who was the mistress and, later, wife of John of Gaunt.   I became fascinated by her extraordinary life, after reading Katherine, the novel by Anya Seton.   Their great grandson was Henry VII, who started the Tudor dynasty and son was the (in)famous Henry VIII.
